Swinson Funral Services announce the death of Mother Alberta Powell, 88, of 3802 Colburn Road, formerly of Kinston, died Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2011, at Northwestern Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland.

A celebration of life was held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 16, at Faith Tabernacle Holy Church with the Rev. Michelle Gooding officiating. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery. Survivors include sons Alton Grander and Ronnie Powell of Baltimore; daughters Katrina Tilghman of Baltimore, JoAnn Ogunkoya of Kinston; and brothers, Isaac Uzzell of Kinston and Robert Uzzell of Maryland.

Visitation will be held form 6-8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 15, from the Robert Swinson Jr. Memorial Chapel.
