Evelyn Kornegay

Mrs. Evelyn "Mama" Kornegay 81 of 1305 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd departed this life Friday May 14, 2010 at home. Public visitation will take place on Friday, May 21 from 6-7 PM at the Historic Grainger Stadium in Kinston. The family will continue to receive friends at the stadium from 7-8 PM. Homegoing services will take place on Saturday, May22, 2010 at 12:00 NOON from the United American Freewill Baptist Tabernacle with Pastor Charlie Howell officiating. Interment will immediately follow at Pinelawn Memorial Park. She will be sadly missed by her son and his wife, William and Donna Sutton of Falls Church, VA, an adopted daughter, Shirley and husband James Hodges of Kinston, NC, son Sammy Kornegay, five sisters Nora Clark, Delzora Nobles and Lula Bell Gooding of Greenville, NC, Ginna Mae Warren and Margaret McCoy of Kinston, NC, her grandchildren, Loretta of Raleigh, NC, Nicole of Kinston, NC, Michael of Arlington, VA, Demetrius of Oxon Hill, Md, Charlene of Gaithersburg, Md, Anton of Clinton, Md, Signa of Kinston, NC, Troy of Clinton, Md, Stacy of Raleigh, NC, William of Temple Hill, Md, Tia of Falls Church, VA, Cleveland of Kinston, NC, eighteen great grandchildren along with a very special niece, Mary Ann and husband Tony of Greenville, NC, and nephews Lenzie and James and one surviving sister in law of Richmond, VA, Mary Barnes. Remains rest at Swinson Funeral Service, 208 East Blount Street.
