Mr. George F. Davis Jr., 78 of 2328 Briarfield Road Kinston departed this life Tuesday March 2, 2010 at home. Funeral services will be held on Saturday March 6, 2010 at 1 PM from the United American Free Will Baptist Tabernacle with Rev. Michael Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery. He is survived by wife Peggy J. Davis of the home, 8 sons Edward Harper of Kinston, George Davis III of Greensboro NC, Joseph Moore of Kinston, Michael Davis of Georgia, Victor Coward of Winston Salem NC, Lucious Moore of Washington DC, Charles Hines of Florida, George Foy of Kinston, 9 daughters Sheila Wooten of Grifton NC, Cleatrice Simmons of Kinston, Gina Davis of Greensboro NC, Gloria Shephard Greensboro NC, Sandra Jones of Raleigh NC, Barbara Hudson of Raleigh NC, Phyllis Moore Raleigh NC, Evelyn Ward of Elm City, Debra Stubbs of New Jersey, 3 brothers James Simmons and Alton Simmons of Washington DC and Reginald Simmons of Kinston NC, 7 sisters Doris Mattocks, of Kinston Delores Witherspoon of Kinston, Etta Heath of Washington DC< Mary McGee of Washington DC, Patricia Simmons of Washington DC, Marion Wilson of Washington DC, Laura White of Kinston, 29 grandchildren, and 22 great grandchildren. Viewing will be held on Friday March 5, 2010 3 PM to 8 PM at the funeral home. The family will receive friends at 2606 Carey Road Kinston. Arrangements entrusted to Swinson Funeral Service.
