Mrs. Helen S. Bright passed away peacefully in her home Wednesday, October 21, 2009 surrounded by her family. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, October 27, 2009 at 1:00pm at the Greater Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Kinston with Dr. Eugene Williams officiating. Helen was born in Greene County, NC to the late Willie F. and Maggie D. Simmons. She was educated in the Lenoir County Schools. She attended and graduated from Lenoir Com-munity College where she received her certification as a Teacher's Assistant. She worked with the Lenoir County Schools for a number of years. Helen continued her employment with Do-mestics/Oneita manufacturing companies and after a brief retirement in 1998 she joined the Wal-Mart family as a people greeter, which she enjoyed. Helen was married to the late John W. Bright Sr. and to this union twelve children were born. She is survived by: Laveria B. Kemp (Haywood) of the home, Gerald F. Bright (Joyce) of Kinston, Barbara A. Bright of the home, Marquis D. Bright of Wendell, N.C., Carmen D. Banks (Larry) of Kinston, Corlis G. Bright (Jef-frey) of Kinston, Leytryce D. Bright of Kinston, Caron J. Roberson (Milton) of Kinston, John W. Bright Jr. (Mallory) of Kinston, Amy B. Ward (Jeffrey) of Kinston, Christle R. Bright of Kinston and Nicholas A. Bright (Lisa) of Baum Holder, Germany. Three adopted children, James Wil-loughby, Janet Edwards of Kinston and Ann Jones of South Carolina. 25 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. Two nieces, Leona Sutton and Laura White of Kinston. 1 nephew, Frank Faggins (Cynthia) of Kinston. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 7 p.m.-8 p.m. at the Swinson Funeral Home.
