The Staff & Management of R. Swinson Funeral Services joins in sorrow with the family of Mr. James Edward "JP" Powell, 85, of 3407 Coleman Drive, Apt. 5 passed away on Tuesday, December 6, 2016 at Signature Healthcare Center.

Services will be held on Tuesday, December 13, 2016 at 1:00 PM from the Robert Swinson, Jr. Memorial Chapel. Burial will take place in the Howell Cemetery. A public visitation will be held on Monday, December 12, 2016 from 4:00-7:00 PM from the Robert Swinson, Jr. Memorial Chapel.

Survivors include four sons, Larry Powell of Kinston, John Chapman of Virginia, James Powell, Jr. of Kinston and Terry Sweat of Maryland; one daughter, Sherrill Barfield of Kinston; one sister, Melvin Powell of Kinston; and one grandchild.
