Rev. James Earl Vance, Sr.

With heavy hearts, we the staff and management of R. Swinson Funeral Services along with the Vance family announce the transition of 90-year-old Rev. James Earl Vance, Sr. of 1314 Queens Road, Kinston, who transitioned on Friday, November 17, 2023, at his residence.

Service will be held 12 noon on Saturday, November 25, 2023 from the Church of Faith and Deliverence, burial will follow in Westview Cemetery.  Visitation will be held Friday, November 24, 2023  from 4 to 6pm from the Robert Swinson, Jr. Memorial Chapel.

Rev. Vance is survived by his wife-Mary Stella Vance of the home, three sons-James E. Vance, Jr. of Virginia, Robert Vance of Kinston, NC and Yoshiko Fields of Houston, Tx.,  seven daughters- Peggy V. Taylor of Smithfield, Va., Angela S. Ormond of Grifton,NC, Marye "Penni" Vance of Durham, NC, Annette Taft and Teresa R. Vance of Greenville, NC, Jenifer E. Vance of Winston-Salem, NC, and Charlene Vance-King of Durham, NC, twenty-six grandchildren and twenty-three great granchildren.
