Mrs. Sandra K Croom Whitaker, 56, formerly of Kinston, died Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2009, at Lenoir Memorial Hospital. The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 10 at St. Mark Church Ministries with the Rev. Kenneth Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Memorial Gar-dens. Survivors include her husband, Hilton Whitaker Jr. of New Jersey; mother Mary A. Croom; daughters Shakara Bridges of New York, Tanishia Bridges of Las Vegas; brothers Robert Croom of Greenville, Richmond Croom of Maryland, and Micro Croom of Kinston; sisters Andrea Showit, and Renee Williams of Fayetteville, and Cecila Jerkins of Kinston. Visitation will be held from 3-8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 9 at the funeral home. Professional service entrusted to Swinson Funeral Service.
