(Retired Srgt Major USMC) Walter Anderson Jr., 83 of 1103 Desmond Street departed this life August 28, 2009 at his home. Memorial services will be held on Wednesday September 4, 2009 at 6 PM from the Swinson Funeral Service Chapel. Burial will take place at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington VA at a later date. He is survived by his wife Catherine W. Anderson of the home, 1 son Dr. Travis L. Anderson of Statesville NC, 2 daughters Mavis G. Anderson of the home and Michelle L. Anderson of Cary NC, 1 sister Deloris Corprew of Norfolk VA, 2 grandchildren, 3 grandchildren. The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
